Small Business Bosses Hit High Note
Small business chief executives are entering the New Year on a high not seen in years, a survey released Wednesday shows.
The Vistage CEO confidence index surged to 106.3 in the fourth quarter of 2010, from 95.1 in the third quarter, and 58 percent of small business CEOs in the survey expect economic conditions to improve—the highest percentage since 2004.
As importantly—or maybe more importantly given small businesses’ role in driving overall job growth—54 percent of CEOs said they plan to add employees in the coming year. That’s the first time that number has been positive in three years.
