Uncle Sam May Just Want Some Female Entrepreneurs
One of the nation’s largest credit-card companies is teaming with a women’s business organization on training meant to help female entrepreneurs get their slice of the lucrative-but-hard-to-tap government contracting market.
American Express OPEN and Women Impacting Public Policy are offering a Web tutorial Thursday meant to walk women through the daunting process of doing business with the Federal government.
Such a program is important because the U.S. government is the biggest customer in the world, women are a major source of untapped entrepreneurial talent, and it costs small businesses an average of $103,827 in time and other resources to work with the government. So entrepreneurs need to get the most bang in revenue for those bucks they spend.
The online tutorial is part of a continuing program by American Express Open and WIPP, the Give Me 5 program, aimed at giving women entrepreneurs more of access to government contracting.
