Lauren Bush's Footprints
Earlier this month, Inc. magazine released its selection of this year's coolest young movers-and-shakers, the 30 Under 30 list. It's an impressive list of enthusiastic and idealistic folks who want to change the world for the better while making good money to do so.
But Inc., like most other media outlets that trot out lists of accomplished business people, treats all of its subjects the same. There is no single Young Entrepreneur of the Year, all 30 are equal.
Come on. Someone has to be better the rest, right?
One relatively new site, PeekYou.com, came up with a partial answer. Using its ranking method, PeekScore, the site took the 13 women on the Entrepreneur list and ranked them based on the size of their digital footprint—defined as someone's presence on blogs, social media, and the Internet at large.
Topping the PeekScore rank of the Inc. list was Lauren Bush, the fashion model and relative of two presidents (granddaughter to George H.W. Bush, niece to George W. Bush). But none of these designations got her on the Inc. list, though they probably helped to get her high up on the PeekScore ranking. Bush is also CEO of FEED Projects, a company that sells reusable bags and uses the proceeds to help fund anti-hunger programs worldwide.
Her business partner, Ellen Gustafson, came in fifth in the PeekScore analysis. Then again, we haven't had a President Gustafson so the lower rank is to be expected.
