Top 10 Buzziest Super Bowl Ads

Honda, matthew broderick, Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Matthew Broderick taking another Ferris Bueller-style day off in an ad for Honda? Super Bowl fans ate it up. David Beckham showing off his ripped body in H&M skivvies? Not so much.

That’s the word from digital marketing agency Zeta Interactive, which put together its annual Zeta Buzz report for ads that ran during the big game. Zeta Buzz mines more than 200 million blogs, tweets, message boards, social-media posts, and more to determine the buzz about each ad and then uses an algorithm to measure the volume and tone of conversations across the social-media landscape.

The average "tonal buzz" ranking around a commercial at this year's Super Bowl was 80.9 percent positive as of this morning, down from last year’s average of 83.5 percent positive. What does Zeta Buzz suggest about the public mood during the game? Nostalgia, inspiration, and feel-good themes were high on the list. Five of the most popular words associated with Honda’s “Matthew's Day Off” ad (which took first place and also received 12.3 million hits on YouTube were “memories," "creative," "clever," "great," and "awesome."

Chrysler's "Clint Eastwood" ad, which finished tied for 10th in tonal buzz at 86 percent positive, was associated most commonly with words and phrases such as "inspirational," "perfect," and "feel good.”
