BusinessWeek Bidders Anonymous
Yesterday Reuters reported that McGraw-Hill would announce the winning bidder for BusinessWeek as soon as next week. According to Anupreeta Das and Robert McMillan, it looks like Bloomberg will take over the (choose your preferred descriptor) "beleaguered" (PaidContent), "embattled" (New York Post) magazine. That can't be comforting to some of the BW staffers Portfolio.com talked to a few weeks ago who nervously joked about the "borg-like atmosphere" at Bloomberg.
Just as this story seemed to be tying itself up in a neat little bow, BusinessWeek's Tom Lowry published a short post today about another bidder: New York Daily News owner Mort Zuckerman.
Lowry has few specifics, but Zuckerman—who also owns U.S. News & World Report—confirmed he'd made a bid for BusinessWeek. He now finds himself in the company of Bloomberg, ZelnickMedia, OpenGate Capital, Mansueto Ventures, and whoever else emerges.
