Should We Trust Ron Charles' Oprah's Book Club Prediction?
Is Uwem Akpan's Say You're One of Them Oprah's new Book Club selection?
That's what the Washington Post Book World editor Ron Charles is reporting on his Twitter feed. Mediabistro's GalleyCat follows up with, "we haven't seen that anywhere else yet, but we trust Charles, so here we are."
Maybe they shouldn't trust Charles. In March he set off a brief flurry of tweets when he claimed The New Yorker would go bi-weekly, saying, "Frequent contributor tells me the New Yorker is considering switch to biweekly or monthly. Recession pains." New Yorker editor David Remnick told the New York Observer's John Koblin that Charles' tweet was "False. False. False. False" and it was soon taken down.
The biweekly claim hasn't come to pass in the six months since Charles tweeted it. Oprah's pick will be made on Friday.
