Tina Fey Grateful for Ben Silverman
Finally, someone says something nice about Ben Silverman.
Silverman, who's probably scrounging up boxes as he prepares to leave his job as co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Studio, was paid a compliment—a faint one, anyway—by 30 Rock creator and star Tina Fey in an interview with Broadcasting & Cable.
"Ben was always very good to us and good to 30 Rock and anyone who left us on the air is all right by me," Fey told B&C's Melissa Grego. "We'll miss him, but all seems well with the new guy, too. I spoke to Mr. Gaspin last week and he seems like a good guy—so far. So far. I'm giving him 10…no, I'm kidding."
Well, we sure hope Fey was kidding (even though that wasn't so funny). She wouldn't want to hurt Mr. Gaspin's feelings. Especially since her show was recently sold into syndication, a process described solicitously as follows, "Everyone at NBC Universal did a really good job of selling the show and it was a tough time economically, so I was really happy with the deal that was made and just happy that the show will have a life beyond its original network life... I'm excited for us to go to Comedy Central because they seem to really care about the show and will give it a good platform there."
We're sure Mr. Herzog will appreciate reading that. Now she just has to keep being this nice until 2011 when the deal kicks in.
