NBC on Pace for 'New Low' in NFL Ratings Race

NBC needs the New England Patriots.

The network's "Sunday Night Football" is averaging a 10.2 Nielsen rating, down 9 percent from last year, and "putting NBC on track for a new low" for the NFL's primetime broadcast package, according to USA Today.

The current low is a 10.8 rating, set in 2005 by ABC's "Monday Night Football." NBC drew an 8.1 final Nielsen rating for the Colts' win over the Ravens this past Sunday, down 36.7 percent from a 12.8 for the comparable Saints-Cowboys game last year.

Meanwhile, the Patriots (unbeaten at 13-0) have helped CBS and ESPN set ratings records this season.
