Drew Carey Talks Soccer on 'Monday Night Football'
As part of the endless mockery "Monday Night Football" has become, actor Drew Carey appeared in the broadcast booth during last night's San Francisco 49ers-Seattle Seahawks game last night to discuss his part-ownership in the new Seattle Major League Soccer franchise that is to be formally introduced today.
Carey said the team will offer a membership program to fans in which, "for a fee - like $100 a year - you can be a member of our club and you get to vote every four years whether the (GM) keeps his job or not."
ESPN's Tony Kornheiser said, "That's great," and added, "Maybe you'll have a dunking stool at some point, too."
Kornheiser asked Carey, a Cleveland native and fan of the city's sports teams, "You're sure you won't move the soccer team to Cleveland, right?" Carey: "No, we won't move it. We're going to be loyal to the Seattle fans"
Blah, blah, blah.
As if the national football-watching audience was mulling the future landscape of Major League Soccer.
By the way, the Seahawks won the game on the field 24-0.
