DHL Seeks High-Level Olympic Sponsorship Deal
The Olympic sponsorship frenzy continues.
The shipping company DHL is seeking a deal with the International Olympic Committe to become a global top-level sponsor and the official logistics partner for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games and 2012 London Summer Olympics, according to Brand Republic.com.
The TOP sponsorship deals of McDonald's, Visa, Coca-Cola, Panasonic, Samsung, Omega, GE and Atos Origin all run through the 2012 Games in London.
The IOC wants to ink between 10 and 12 global partners for each Olympic Games, Brand Republic said.
Last month, Kodak, an official Olympic partner for more than 100 years, announced the company wold end its association with the Games after this summer's Olympics in Beijing.
It is also expected that Canadian insurance giant Manulife won't renew its contract past 2008, leaving the IOC likely to be seeking further partners.
DHL in June announced a three-year sponsorship of the Special Olympics, which covered the event in China earlier this year and the 2009 Winter Games in the United States.
