Freezing Temperatures Expected for World Series in Denver
This is what Major League Baseball deserves for scheduling the World Series so late in October and possibly November.
The Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox will be greeted with nightly temperatures in the 30s Saturday through Monday thanks to a cold front sweeping in from Montana. Rarely, if ever, has any weather system from Montana affected the Fall Classic, which Boston leads two games to none.
High temperatures during the day on Saturday before Game 3 will be in the low 50s, and rain or snow could arrive with the front, according to the
National Weather Service.
National Weather Service. Each night, by the end of the game, temperatures will be in the 30s.
Great baseball weather indeed for games will be starting just after 6 p.m. local time so prime time audiences on the East coast can tune in.
The frosty outlook may break the record-setting conditions of the Oct. 22, 1997 Game 4 between the Cleveland Indians and Florida Marlins in Cleveland.
That is the coldest World Series game ever, with an official game time temperature of 38 degrees -- 18 degrees with the wind chill.
I predict that mark will fall this weekend.
