Versus Taps Dennis Miller to Host Sports Show ... Why?

Like Major League Baseball teams constantly hiring retread managers, television networks just don't get it.

Versus, the Comcast-owned cable outlet formerly known as the Outdoor Life Network, has hired Dennis Miller to host a one-hour weekly series called "Sports Unfiltered with Dennis Miller," according to Variety.

Miller, the accomplished comedian and talk radio host, was a disaster during two seasons as a commentator on "Monday Night Football," so of course, give him his own sports show. Miller was actually ranked the worst "Monday Night Football" commentator of all time in a 2006 ESPN poll.

The opinion show launches Nov. 6 in the 10 pm ET slot, using the network's National Hockey League game programming as a lead-in and focusing on sports and feature editorials that Versus will calling "rants," mock sportscasts where Miller talks about the sports news of the week.

Miller doing sports commentary sounds as appealing as his former "Monday Night Football" colleague Al Michaels would performing at LA's hottest comedy club.

Networks never learn.
