EBay Sales of O.J. Simpson Items Surge Amid Arrest
O.J. Simpson, the former National Football League star acquitted in 1995 of killing his ex-wife, is at it again. Getting arrested. Keeping himself in the spotlight. And watching his stuff sell on eBay.
Early indications say that more Simpson items are selling briskly (this past week, 302 items were sold on eBay compared to 106 the week before and 40 the week before that), at an average price per item of about $16. This according to Darren Rovell of href="http://www.cnbc.com/id/20820113/site/14081545"target="new">CNBC.
Simpson has been charged with armed robbery for alleged involvement in stealing sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel, police said. The 60-year-old former gridiron star faces two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary with a deadly weapon.
Simpson is being held without bail.

The charges against Simpson stem from a Sept. 13 incident inside the Palace Station Hotel-Casino. Simpson and other men allegedly armed with guns robbed two sports memorabilia dealers of materials signed by the football star. Simpson told CNN he was reclaiming stolen personal items when he went into the hotel room.
According to various media reports the items stolen by Simpson include a signed photo of Simpson and the late FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover, footballs and photographs signed by Simpson, photos of his children, baseballs signed by Duke Snider and Pete Rose, a set of cleats worn by Joe Montana, his Hall of Fame certificate and--according to the New York Post--the suit he wore when he was found not guilty of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
Doesn't it seem like Simpson purposely puts himself in these situations? He can't live without the notoriety, no matter how twisted. Maybe he really is the bumbling "Nordberg" of "Naked Gun" movie fame.
