O.J. Simpson in Yet Another Legal Fracas
Ugh, why won't O.J. Simpson just disappear forever?
Today's bizarre tale involving the Hall of Fame running back says he went into a Las Vegas casino hotel room to retrieve memorabilia that he felt was stolen from him. But police are trying to discern whether the intrusion constituted an armed robbery. Authorities have named the disgraced football star a suspect, though no charges have been filed.
Simpson told the Associated Press that he went to the room at the Palace Station casino to retrieve stolen mementos that included his Hall of Fame certificate and a picture of the running back with J. Edgar Hoover.
"It's stolen stuff that's mine. Nobody was roughed up," Simpson told the AP.
Simpson, who was questioned by police immediately after the incident late Thursday, was cooperating, police said. No one was in custody, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The ex-NFL star lives near Miami and has been constant tabloid fodder since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman were killed in 1994.
Simpson was acquitted of murder charges, but a jury later held him liable for the killings in a wrongful death lawsuit.
Can we believe anything this man says at any point in time? Most incredible is how he keeps finding himself running afoul of the law time and time again. And somehow keeps weaseling out of trouble.
