Patriots' Belichick Apologizes After Sign-Stealing Accusation
Oh please.
New England Patriots Bill Belichick apologized early today via a released statement over allegations the Patriots stole signs and spied on the New York Jets during last Sunday's 38-14 NFL season-opening win.
"Earlier this week, I spoke with Commissioner [Roger] Goodell about a videotaping procedure during last Sunday's game and my interpretation of the rules,'' Belichick said. ``At this point, we have not been notified of the league's ruling. Although it remains a league matter, I want to apologize to everyone who has been affected, most of all ownership, staff and players. Following the league's decision, I will have further comment."
How will Belichick weasel out of this one? How could a coach with his level of experience, not to mention three Super Bowl titles, stoop to such low gamesmanship?

It's believed a Patriots employee used a video camera to record the hand signals from Jets coaches to the New York defense. The NFL hasn't said what footage was on the tape or if the Patriots actually did break any rules.
Either way, this isn't a good day for the New England Patriots and their coach.
