New Giants Stadium Prime Suites Fetching $1 Million

Once again, the proof of new stadium pudding is in the luxury suites. Why else would professional teams and plunge megamillions into fresh sports arenas?

Prime suites at the new Giants-Jets stadium in New Jersey are selling for a cool $1 million a year, three seasons before the new Meadowlands football palace opens, according to the Sports Business Journal.

And for that million-dollar price tag you'd get access to it for home games of both teams, which if you watched the Jets and Giants season openers last weekend would equate to week after week of bad football from Labor Day to New Year's.

The open-air stadium will seat 82,000 spectators and include 217 luxury suite boxes. Luxury suites are expected to feature more space between rows, comfortable couches, armchairs and several flat panel televisions. Entering and leaving the stadium will occur via a private lobby, through which patrons will have access to reserved parking.

The Giants-Jets average suite price is "expected to be in the $275,000 to $300,000 range." Suites at Giants Stadium, where the Jets have been tenants since 1984, currently range from only $150,000-$378,000.

Giants co-Owner John Mara said that the stadium will have 150-200 suites with terms "not likely to extend beyond the normal 10 years," according to SBJ.
