Moving beyond the classic magazine, Playboy has repositioned itself as a lifestyle brand encompassing licensed merchandise, websites, clubs, and even a reality TV show--E Channel's The Girls Next Door.

Christie Hefner has had to face challenges from rivals as disparate as YouTube, the lad mags and even Facebook while also expanding into e-commerce and international markets.
