Before and After the Crisis

The new CNBC/Portfolio Wealth in America Survey -- out today -- had the fortune(?) of being conducted right before our financial markets rammed into a wall at Mach 5 last week. So our good pollsters decided to do it again and in the process give us some interesting results.

Most surprising: Before the crisis 55 percent of respondents were pessimistic about the prospects of the economy, but after Lehman and AIG failed, that figure dropped to 23 percent.

Now that's exceptionalism.
