Chart of the Day: Expansion Squeaks Out Income Gains

The Census Bureau released data on poverty, income and health insurance for 2007 today, showing that the number of uninsured dropped thanks to expanding government programs for children while the poverty stayed unchanged at 12.5 percent.

On the income front, somewhere President Bush must be breathing a little bit easier as the Census data revealed that median incomes managed to grow during the (seemingly) past economic expansion. But, compared to previous expansions, income gains were dramatically lower:
