Are You Charitable or Greedy?

In the last issue of our fair magazine, Arthur C. Brooks of Syracuse University posits the counterintuitive notion that giving away money can actually stimulate your income...and the entire U.S. economy.

Imagine two families that are identical in size, age, race, education, religion, and politics. The only difference is that this year the first family gives away $100 more than the second. Based on my analysis of the S.C.C.B.S. survey, the first family will, on average, earn $375 more as a result of its generosity.

Now, our crack multimedia team has designed a fun interactive test so you can see for yourself how much of your income has been stimulated by your giving and what would happen to the U.S. economy if everyone gave like you.

Take it for a spin here.
