Idle Chatter: News Corp., Blago, Yahoo, 'Globe'

-News Corp. is creating a new unit that will be in charge of sharing content and resources across its global array of news properties. [TBI]

-Former Illinois governor and alleged felon Rod Blagojevich has agreed to appear on an NBC reality show called I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, although he'll need court approval to participate. A little late for April Fool's jokes, isn't it? [THR]

-Yahoo, which eliminated 2,400 jobs last year, is said to be planning a new round of layoffs likely totaling several hundred. [NYT]

-The Boston Globe's union says it will negotiate with The New York Times Co. over cost-saving measures, but it has some pretty ambitious conditions it wants met first, including that the negotiations all be public. [Boston Phoenix]. □
