-Fox News has fired entertainment columnist Roger Friedman for posting an online review of an illegally-leaked, unfinished version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a 20th Century Fox film. [DHD]
-Peter Bart is stepping down as editor in chief of Variety after holding that job for 20 years. [NYP]
-The New York Times Co. is threatening to close the Boston Globe if its employee union won't agree to $20 million in cost-saving measures. The paper is said to be losing $85 million annually. [Phoenix]
-HarperCollins will publish two novels found on Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton's computer after he died. One was finished and one wasn't. [NYT]
-Michelle Obama isn't nearly as much of a sales enhancer for magazines as her husband. [Ad Age]. □
