Idle Chatter: Google and Twitter, 'NYT,' OWN, more

-Google is reportedly in talks to buy Twitter for "well, well north" of $250 million. Sorry, Rupert. [TechCrunch]

-New York Times executive editor Bill Keller says New York Times readers have offered to donate cash to keep the paper alive. He also thinks CNN has become a parody of itself. [Politico]

-The launch of the Oprah Winfrey Network, OWN, has been pushed back from later this year to 2010. [NYP]

-New York legislators have extended a tax credit that makes it cheap for shows like 30 Rock and Rescue Me to shoot in the city. Some shows were threatening to pull up stakes and film elsewhere if the credit wasn't allowed to expire. [Reuters]

-Hearst says it may be able to save enough money through cost-cutting measures at the San Francisco Chronicle that it won't have to shut down the paper. [WSJ]. □
