Idle Chatter: Huffpo, Hulu, MTV, O'Reilly, more

-The Huffington Post is helping to underwrite a new investigative-journalism start-up whose mission will be to produce reporting on the economy that can be published anywhere. [AP]

-Disney is close to a deal under which it would make ABC programs available through Hulu in exchange for a stake in the venture. Currently, Hulu's TV offerings consist mostly of NBC and Fox shows. [LAT]

-Former AOL chief is expected to take a job as News Corp.'s digital czar. [WSJ]

-UPS says it won't be advertising on The O'Reilly Factor anytime soon; Think Progress is claiming this as a victory. [ThinkProgress]

-Nielsen is expected to consolidate its New York-based media trades, perhaps by folding Brandweek and Mediaweek into Adweek. [NYP]

-MTV is creating a block of music programming that will air beginning at 3 a.m., reminding nursing mothers and meth addicts of the network's early days. [NYT]

-Felix Salmon is hopping mad at The New York Times for messing with the permalinks on IHT.com, and he wants to see the situation rectified "sharpish." [Market Movers]. □
