Idle Chatter: Obama, 'WSJ,' 'In Style,' BBC, more
-This is why sitting presidents don't typically make the rounds of late-night talk shows: On The Tonight Show last night, Barack Obama made a dumb joke involving the Special Olympics that required an immediate official apology. [USAT]
-A judge in Singapore found Melanie Fitzpatrick, a deputy editor of The Wall Street Journal's editorial page, guilty of contempt and ordered her to pay a $6,600 fine. The charge stemmed from two editorials and a letter to the editor that were found to disparage Singapore's judicial system. [WSJ]
-Charla Lawhon, the managing editor of In Style, is stepping down after 15 years with the title. She was one of the launch editors. [WWD]
-The BBC is planning to cut $583 million in costs over the next three years. [Variety]
-VH1 is bringing back Behind the Music after a three-year hiatus. [NYP]
-Three employees of Freemantle Media, a production company whose hits include American Idol, are suing, saying they were forced to endure "sweatshop" work conditions. [NYT]. □Comments
