Idle Chatter: Gawker Media, Sanjay Gupta, 'Seinfeld'

-Hachette Filipacchi Media is looking to ditch its midtown offices and move to Wall Street to save money on rent. [NYP]

-Irony alert: By rolling Defamer and Valleywag into Gawker, Nick Denton is following a path blazed by Time Inc. and Condé Nast, both of which use umbrella sites to represent multiple brands. [WSJ]

-CNN's Sanjay Gupta has taken himself out of the running for surgeon general. [CNN]

-Barnes & Noble has bought Fictionwise, an e-book retailer. [NYT]

-Hearst is offering some -- but not all -- employees of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer jobs at a web-only version of the newspaper that will survive the closing of the print edition. [P-I] -The cast of Seinfeld will reunite on an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. [EW.com]. □
