Idle Chatter: Kumo Comes; Thomson Reuters VOD

-The Supreme Court has agreed to reconsider its decision in New York Times Co. vs. Tasini. The original ruling found that copyrights were infringed when articles were republished in online databases without the permission of the copyright holder. [NYT]

-Thomson Reuters is launching a video-on-demand service for financial professionals. [NYT]

-Jane Velez-Mitchell, drafted in a hurry as a replacement for Glenn Beck on Headline News, is already smashing her more-famous predecessors' ratings. [NYT]

-The Philadelphia Daily News is officially becoming an edition of its sister paper, the Inquirer. The nominal change will allow the two papers to save money on wire service subscriptions. Parent company Philadelphia Media Holdings recently filed for Chapter 11. [Philly.com]

-Martha Stewart Living is widening its editorial scope to encompass fashion, beauty and travel in a bid to lure more advertisers in those categories. [Mediaweek]. □
