Idle Chatter: MSNBC Shoots for Three, more

-MSNBC wants to create a third show in primetime. Right now, its 10 p.m. hour is a repeat of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. [NYT]

-Alaska governor and political superstar/liability Sarah Palin has retained the services of Robert Barnett, the Washington attorney who negotiated book deals for Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Laura Bush. Palin is thought to be angling for a book deal of her own, or maybe a TV show. [THR]

-Just about all the big web video players, minus Google, are teaming up in a test to determine the best formats for online video ads. [WSJ]

-Former Time Warner CEO Richard Parsons is the new chairman of Citigroup. [Reuters on Portfolio]

-Is Playboy consolidating its editorial operations in Chicago and merging its online and print staffs? That's the rumor. [P6]. □
