A Dream Deferred: No Senate Run for Matthews

He hemmed. He hawed. He met with the right people. He made a respectable showing in the polls -- the real ones and the not-so-real ones. He even managed to go a few months without embarrassing himself and his network.

But in the end, Chris Matthews is staying at MSNBC, not running for senate in Pennsylvania, reports the Washington Post. And this even though the network is forcing a pay cut on him, from his current $5 million a year to somewhere above $2 million. Of course, at last check a U.S. Senator makes about $165,000 a year.
