Idle Chatter: FedEx Benched for Super Bowl, more
-The Screen Actors Guild has pushed back a vote on whether to strike until mid-January. Numerous top actors are urging SAG members to vote against the strike, saying they can't afford to shut down the industry right now. [LAT]
-For the first time in 12 years, FedEx won't run a commercial during the Super Bowl. The shipping giant says spending $3 million on a 30-second spot isn't in keeping with its current austerity measures. [Adweek]
-Jim Brady, executive editor of Washingtonpost.com, is leaving the company as the Post seeks to merge its digital and print news operations. Until now, the Post's web staff has enjoyed a degree of autonomy unusual in the newspaper business. [WaPo]
-Publishers Clearing House, long the source of cheap magazine subscriptions until a string of lawsuits forced it out of that business, is reinventing itself for iPhone and Twitter users. [NYT]
-Regional publisher GateHouse Media is suing The New York Times Co., saying that the Times-owned Boston.com has been stealing GateHouse's web content. [Boston Herald]. □Comments
