Idle Chatter: Seeing Redstone; TV Sans Guide

-Sumner Redstone and his daughter, Shari, are feuding, as usual, this time over a plan to sell movie-theater chains in order to pay down debt. Redstone may seek to punish his daughter by preventing her from succeeding him as head of CBS and Viacom. [NYT]

-Macrovision has sold the TV Guide Channel for $300 million. The new owners, TV producer Allen Shapiro and a private equity firm, say they plan to do away with the listings and convert it into an entertainment channel. [Variety]

-HarperCollins and Random House have both acquired books about Bernard Madoff's investment scheme, to be written by Andrew Kirtzman and Richard Behar, respectively. [WSJ]

-Watergate source Mark "Deep Throat" Felt is dead at 95. [WaPo]

-Michael Flatley, a.k.a. the Lord of the Dance, is backing a new website aimed at people of Irish descent. [NYP]. □
