Idle Chatter: Mort Suckered-man; David Shoe-ster?
-Whoever ends up getting laid off next at the New York Daily News may have Bernard Madoff to thank. News owner Mort Zuckerman was one of the big victims of Madoff's Ponzi scheme. [WSJ]
-An Iraqi TV reporter threw his shoes at George Bush's head during a presidential press conference in Baghdad. The reporter, Muntadar al-Zaidi, was immediately given his own nightly show on MSNBC. [WaPo]
-Kidding! It's actually David Shuster who's hosting MSNBC's 6 p.m. show, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He's never thrown footwear at a head of state, although he did once compare Hillary Clinton to a pimp. [NYT]
-Everyone's picking on The Economist for completely blowing its 2008 predictions. [Ad Age, NYT]
-Business-news publisher Crain Communications has laid off 60 people. Most of them came from Financial Week, which went from ink-and-paper to web-only publication this month. [NYP]. □
