'Forbes': No, That Russian Dude's Not Buying Us
There's no question there's some crazy stuff going on in the media world. But crazy like a Russian billionaire buying Forbes? That's not happening.
At least not according to Forbes itself, which is denying a report that Onexim Group, a private equity firm founded by Russian tycoon Mikhail Prokhorov, is set to buy the venerable business magazine and its associated properties.
"Forbes absolutely denies this rumor, and has no knowledge of the source," said a spokeswoman when I asked her about the rumors. "Forbes Russia is also not for sale to this group."
Now, shutting down its cars site, merging its print and online staffs and laying a bunch of people off? That stuff's legit.
