Idle Chatter: 'Cottage' Carnage at Time Inc., more

-Yesterday, Time Inc. folded Cottage Living, putting 38 people out of work. Today, the publisher is expected to excise another 250 jobs. [NYP]

-It will most likely be well into next year before the sixth season of Project Runway makes it onto the air. Unless, that is, NBC Universal and the Weinstein Co. can reach a settlement -- but there are no talks under way. [NYT]

-Former MSNBC general manager Dan Abrams has started a new consultancy that seeks to harness the insights of journalists to serve corporate clients. [WSJ]

-Thanks to a year of major ratings growth, CNN is feeling flush enough to spend money on all sorts of ridiculous crap, such as that pseudo-hologram gimmick and lots of parties. [NYO]. □
