Layoffs Come to 'Lucky'

Today's layoff news: Lucky, the Condé Nast-owned women's shopping magazine, has let go three mid-level editors. A spokeswoman for the title declined to comment, but I'm told the cuts were necessitated by the recent corporate mandate that all magazines must reduce their staffs and budgets by 5 percent. Whereas some other titles were able to meet that goal by leaving open positions unfilled, Lucky was fully staffed at the time of the edict; thus, layoffs. Condé Nast also owns Portfolio.

In other layoff news, American Lawyer Media reportedly let go nine people. □
