-NPR has named a new CEO, hiring away the head of online operations at The New York Times, Vivian Schiller. [NYT]

-Sirius XM recorded a $4.88 billion loss in the third quarter, mostly as a result of a write-down. Yes, that's billion. [Reuters]

-Evidently, there were layoffs today at CondéNet, the online arm of Condé Nast, Portfolio's parent company. [Gawker]. □
