Idle Chatter: The Morning After

-So, this happened.

-The networks were somewhat over-cautious about calling states for Obama, considering how not-close the whole thing turned out. Fox News was a little less reluctant and led on most of the calls. [WaPo]

-People and Us Weekly will both have Obama on the cover of their new issues, but Us, with an earlier closing deadline, had to hedge its story to say he was merely projected to win. [NYP]

-I can personally attest that the plastic cups at the Huffington Post's 23/6 party did, in fact, smell like old man. It was gross. But the party was fun. [Media Mob]

-In non-election news, Time Warner posted higher-than-expected third-quarter profit, thanks in no small part to The Dark Knight. More on that later. [Portfolio/Reuters]

-Blogs are making it really hard to lay people off without anyone noticing. [NYT]. □
