No Need for 'Out' to Out Rachel Maddow
They editors of Out must be so relieved: They finally have an openly gay news star to call their own.
MSNBC breakout talent Rachel Maddow tops the new edition of the Out 100, the magazine's annual list of movers and shakers (not to be confused with the Out Power 50, its annual list of machers and heavy-hitters.) NPR's Ari Shapiro is also among the names released so far.
Left off the list is CNN's Anderson Cooper, who has appeared at Nos. 3 and 2 on the last two editions of the Power 50 -- even though he has never publicly stated that he's gay. "This list [ie. the Out 100] is for proudly out folks," explains editor in chief Aaron Hicklin. □
