-More and more newspapers -- including all the ones owned by Tribune Co. -- are dropping out of the Associated Press as a way to save money. [NYT]

-NBC Universal has plans to reduce its 2009 budget by $500 million, or 3 percent, a move that will involve an unknown number of layoffs. [WSJ]

-Sarah Palin's cameo on Saturday Night Live netted the show its best ratings in 14 years. [AP]

-Why are so many conservative pundits dissatisfied with this year's Republican nominees? [NYT]
