Impoco Turns Up at 'Men's Journal'
Jann Wenner's ever-churning talent mill has sucked in a name familiar to watchers of the business press: Jim Impoco. The New York Times and Portfolio veteran has landed in the post of executive editor at Men's Journal. That could put him in line for a quick promotion to the top spot if Wenner keeps up his habit of changing editors at Men's Journal every year or so. The current guy, Brad Wieners, was promoted to editor almost exactly a year ago after his predecessor, James Kaminsky, defected to Maxim.
Impoco came to the Times by way of Fortune and U.S. News & World Report, and spent two years relaunching the Saturday and Sunday business sections before joining the launch team of Portfolio. Since leaving here in August 2007, he's been a contributing editor at the Times Magazine.
