Viewership, Traffic Surge as Economy Totters
Why does it take the threat of catastrophe to get Americans interested in the economy?
Well, they're interested now. CNBC just reported "its most-viewed day, week, September and third-quarter ever with total viewers during its business-day programming," according to Multichannel News. The single-day record, not surprisingly, was set Monday, when the Dow plummeted 777 points. An average of 726,000 people watched it happen.
Meanwhile, Yahoo Finance logged its two biggest weeks of traffic ever. On one day, Sept. 15, Yahoo's Tech Ticker show drew 2.5 million streams.
