The Daily Beast Late to Its Own Launch
Is the Beast not yet ready to emerge from its lair? Tina Brown recently told Fortune that her new web venture, The Daily Beast, would launch Oct. 1, a.k.a. today. But with the day mostly gone, the site still consists of nothing but a landing page featuring a robotic rabbit action figure. (He's the "Beast of the Day" -- get it?) I emailed editor (and Portfolio alum) Edward Felsenthal to see if the launch was postponed, but haven't heard back.
Update, 10/2/08: Here's your explanation: A Daily Beast spokeswoman says Fortune was wrong about the launch date. The Beast will launch "shortly."
