Update: Wall, Not Gore, in Talks with 'Plenty'

A few days ago, I reported on chatter that former vice president Al Gore was in talks to buy all or part of Plenty magazine -- chatter that Plenty's founder, Mark Spellun, mysteriously said "wouldn't be quite accurate."

Now, I know what would be quite accurate. In fact, it's not Gore but his Live Earth collaborator, media entrepreneur Kevin Wall, who is in negotiations with the environmental title. "He is looking into a few different opportunities with Plenty," confirmed a spokeswoman for Wall. "He's not in a position to be speaking about what those are just yet." Wall's spokeswoman said the range of possibilities "runs the gamut," but should be narrowed down within the next two to four weeks. (Gore's office confirmed he is not involved.)

Currently, Wall is the CEO of Control Room, which produces and distributes live music performances over the internet and mobile devices, and is also a co-founder of Sustainable Holdings, an investment firm that "creates a market incentive for companies to put meaningful thought and resources into developing their sustainability strategies."

Wall and Gore are partners in Live Earth, which staged last year's star-studded multi-city concert raising awareness of global warming. Last week they announced plans for an encore concert, to be held in Mumbai, India.

I sought comment from Spellun via voicemail and email but got no response this time.
