-The McCain campaign got into a standoff with traveling press this morning over whether reporters would be allowed to observe Sarah Palin's photo ops at the United Nations. [Politico]

-The Wall Street Journal is hoping to beef up its classified ad business by selling online obituaries. There's a metaphor in there somewhere. [Crain's]

-All those staffers Hearst laid off when it shut down Quick & Simple will soon have some company: Hearst president Cathie Black says her magazines will shrink their staffs. [Times-Union]

-CBS chief Les Moonves likes the idea that he is helping to kill newspapers, for some reason. [Wired]. □
