Top-Selling YA Authors Stump Online for Obama
Can the reigning bards of preteen angst help get Barack Obama elected?
Some 50 authors of young-adult literature have banded together in a new social network, YA for Obama. Officially launching on Monday, Sept. 22, the site is aimed at "giving readers who are under 18 a place in the process," according to writer Maureen Johnson. "Those are our people, and they want to be a part of this election. While they can't vote, they can certainly use their energy and talents to get others to do so -- putting up signs, making videos, or badgering their family members to the polls."
Other charter members of YA for Obama include Judy Blume, Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar, Princess Diaries author Meg Cabot and Spiderwick Chronicles author Holly Black.

Correction: An earlier version of this item attributed Johnson's quote to Melissa Walker, author of the Violet books. I received the message from Walker, who said she had forwarded it from Johnson.
