Idle Chatter: Brin's Bad News, Pat Out to Pasture

-So much for spit parties as a venue for actual fun. Google's Sergey Brin, whose wife co-founded the genetic mapping company 23andMe, says he discovered he has a gene that signifies an elevated risk of developing Parkinson's disease. [NYT]

-Former Insider host Pat "Let's get crazy" O'Brien has been released from the show altogether after trashing new host Lara Spencer in a mass email. [P6]

-A federal judge has tossed out a libel claim lodged against John Grisham by the district attorney whose unethical practices he exposed in The Innocent Man. [AP]

-There won't be any layoffs for the time being at the New York Daily News; there were takers for all 25 buyout packages offered. [NYP]. □
