Idle Chatter: Slim's Pickings, Super Sales

-Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim says he bought a 6.4 percent stake the The New York Times Co. not to force change at the paper but because he thinks it's a good investment. Yeah, but what does the world's third-richest man know about good investments? [WSJ]

-NBC says it has sold 85 percent of its Super Bowl ad inventory already, leaving its sales reps free to play sudoku and update their Tumblrs until Jan. 15 or so. [Reuters]
