Idle Chatter: Seeing a Profit in the Prophet

-Beaufort Books, the publisher that brought out O.J. Simpson's If I Did It after HarperCollins dropped it, is taking on another controversial title, The Jewel of Medina. Random House canceled its contract to publish the book, about a wife of Islam's Prophet Mohammad, amid fears of violence. [Reuters]

-Us Weekly is launching a quarterly spinoff about celebrity fashion, not at all unlike People's StyleWatch. [WSJ]

-Google is now in the TV ad sales business thanks to a partnership with NBC Universal. The web giant will sell commercial time on NBC's cable networks. [LAT]
