Karl Rove, Pundit, Pads Palin's Resume

Has anyone noticed that Karl Rove seems to be having trouble limiting himself to the facts when it comes to Sarah Palin? In The Wall Street Journal this morning, the former Bush Administration majordomo promoted the Republican vice-presidential candidate from "hockey mom" to hockey coach -- a idea he seems to have picked up from the New York Post, unless he just made it up. Although Palin has coached basketball, a staffer in the McCain campaign press office said he was not aware of any experience Palin had coaching hockey.

But at least that was an understandable mistake -- unlike Rove claiming, on Fox News the other day, that Palin was mayor of "the second largest city in Alaska" before she became governor. It's hard to believe a guy who offhandedly disparaged Richmond, Va., as "the 105th largest city in America" wasn't aware that Wasilla isn't the second-biggest city in Alaska, nor the third, both of which are more than three times its size.

At least this guy only gets to peddle his humbug in partisan outlets like Fox News The Wall Street Journal's editorial pages and not somewhere respectable like, you know, Newsweek.
