Idle Chatter: Peabody Awards, Katie Couric Raw, more

-Predictably, yesterday's Peabody Awards ceremony turned into a sort of wake for Tim Russert. But the awards were still given out, and Project Runway became the first reality show to win one. [MCN]

-Katie Couric has been posting outtakes of herself acting silly on YouTube so that no one else feels the need to do it. [LAT]

-F.C.C. chairman Kevin Martin's prepared to accept the Sirius-XM merger as long as the new satellite radio entity sets aside channels for minority programming and meets some other conditions. [AP]

The McClatchy newspaper chain is cutting 10 percent of its workforce, which translates to 1,400 jobs. [Yahoo]

-CSI is the most widely-watched TV show on Earth, with 84 million viewers, according to a new study. [NYP]. □
